I'm in the process of booking our BBQ series, but between now and Memorial Day Weekend,
our traditional BBQ launch, we need to keep that music flowing. So among other great music that Angela has been scheduling,
I wanted to start a monthly Supper Club event. Supper Clubs were very popular in the 1930's &40's, in the
Midwest and on the East Coast. They offered a high class atmosphere with classic menus & live music at affordable prices.
We actually had our first one in late August with LAVAY SMITH. It was a rousing success.
Basically, I've chosen three artists for now, whom we have worked with for many years, and have mastered their craft
as both entertainers and bandleaders, presenting music that ranges from retro swing to blues.
All of this music is perfect for our dance floor, but is visually appealing as well.
STEVE LUCKY & the RHUMBA BUMS will be kicking it off on Saturday, 1/28. Featuring CARMEN GETIT, Steve's extraordinary guitar playing-singing partner, they will be channeling the great entertainers of the '40's & '50's. They were among the first people I invited all those years ago and I'm just glad they have continued to perform. They are truly better than ever and longtime favorites of Angela's and mine.
LEE PRESSON & the NAILS is on board for February's Supper Club, Saturday night, 2/25. Lee usually carries an eight piece "orchestra" with him and plays one of the most innovative collections of retro swing, jump & blues around. He is absolutely as unique an entertainer as we've ever had. Again, the dance floor will be busy, but just watching Lee is a treat.
And the always stylish LAVAY SMITH will return with her wonderful Red Hot Skillet Lickers for her 3rd Supper Club appearance on Saturday, March 25th. She has been featuring the music of Billie Holiday, Count Basie & Duke Ellington, all representing the Supper Club era perfectly.
In addition to all this, Chef Max will make sure the Supper Club menu includes entrees such as Prime Rib, Rib Eye Steak,
Sonoma County Duck Breast, Lagunitas Rack of Lamb & A Fish of the Day. Our longtime Bartender, Nasso, has a fun,
special retro Cocktail Menu for those occasions as well.
So come out and share some good times with us this winter.
